Breakthroughs

image of a hole in a brick wall, revealing a grassy fieldEverything the sister (speaker of Estuary) writes is in present tense. Everything. Do you realize how creepy that is? Really. Try it. This has the ring of a strong stylizing that will lead to something more precise, but for now, creepy. Also, at this time she appears to speak in two-columned prose.

This comes on the heels of a major breakthrough in her experience of time, care of Ishmael, which I’ll be expounding on later this week. Holy bejeezus.

What's all this, then?

I’m writing a book to understand my hometown’s disinterest in its own history, and my role in that. It’s sort of become a novel. This is the full story.

This is my playground. It reflects and predicts what’s happening in the book.

Things I discuss: Eastern Mass. history, storytelling, bookmaking, time travel, poetry & novels, writing craft, dreams, publishing, indigenous perspectives, spirituality, sex, adoption and parenting, research, and whatever I can’t get outta my head.
